MUMBAI: A woman was killed after a bus went out of control after a drunk passenger turned the steering wheel. Eight people sustained injuries. The injured has been admitted to various hospitals in the city. Reports said the condition of two is serious. The 'BEST' (Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport) bus met with an accident at Lalbaug in Mumbai.
The incident happened on route 66 bus which was traveling from Ballard Pier in South Mumbai to Rani Laxmibai Chowk in Sion. A verbal dispute broke out between the driver and the passenger who boarded the bus under the influence of alcohol. When the bus reached Ganesh Talkies near Lalbaug, the passenger gripped the steering wheel of the bus. Due to the sudden movement of the passenger, the driver lost control of the bus.
He hit two bikes and a car on the road. Vehicles have suffered damages. Later hit pedestrians. The police have taken the passenger into custody.
