KUNNAMKULAM: After failing to find any vehicle to travel, a former bus employee, stole a private bus on Tuesday morning. The bus from Kunnamkulam's new stand was stolen at 4 am yesterday. In the incident, the former bus driver, Shamnad, was arrested by the Kunnamkulam police and released after being warned.

The CCTV camera of the old bus stand caught the thief driving the 'Shony' bus on the Kunnamkulam - Guruvayur route at 4.10 am. The owner came to know about the theft only when he reached the shed to start the service. A complaint was then filed.

In the investigation led by Kunnamkulam SHO UK Shahjahan, it was learned that the bus had gone towards Guruvayur. The bus was later found near the Guruvayur flyover. Shamnad confessed to the police about not getting any vehicle to travel at dawn hours therefore committing the crime. Shamnad was released after the bus owner took away his complaint.
