THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Chennai Central-Nagarcoil Vande Bharat special service does not pass through Kerala state, but the benefits are plenty for Thiruvananthapuram natives. If you reach Nagercoil by train from Thiruvananthapuram and then board this Vande Bharat to reach Chennai, you can save at least seven hours in travel time. At present, it takes 14 to 17 hours to reach Chennai from Kerala’s capital city. But this Vande Bharat special train takes just nine hours.
The Chennai Central-Nagarcoil service was started from last Saturday. The train departs from Nagercoil at 2.20 pm. Thiruvananthapuram natives can take the Bengaluru-Kanyakumari Express from Thiruvananthapuram at 12.05 pm, and reach Nagercoil by 2 pm. Vande Bharat, which departs at 2.20 pm, will reach Chennai in seven hours.
People who prefer hassle-free journeys and are not ready to risk with the timings can opt for two other trains to reach Nagercoil from Thiruvananthapuram. Pune-Kanyakumari Express departing at 9.10 am and Thiruvananthapuram-Tiruchirappalli Intercity Express departing at 11.35 am are fine options. They will reach Nagercoil after half past noon which will give passengers more than enough time to rest and resume the next journey.
