THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Cabinet has approved the new Logistics Park Policy in view of the commissioning of Vizhinjam Port. Large logistics parks can be set up on a minimum of 10 acres and mini logistics parks on five acres. It will also have cargo handling, internal road network, dormitories and medical centres.
A Logistics Coordination Committee will be formed under the leadership of the Chief Secretary and a Logistics Cell will be formed under the leadership of the Industries Principal Secretary. Parks will be given single-window clearance. A capital subsidy of up to seven crore rupees will be provided for a large park and up to three crore rupees for a mini park. Stamp duty and registration fees will be waived for land acquisition and lease. Parks can be public-private partnerships or completely private.
