CHENNAI: A man and a woman from Kerala were fatally hit by a train in Chennai. The two have been identified as Muhammed Sharif (36) of Perinthalmanna Panangangara Ramapuram Kizhakkethil and T Aishwarya (28) of Ambalakoth near Kozhikode Medical College. The incident happened on Tuesday night at Guduvancheri Railway Station.
Sharif and Aishwarya came to Chennai seeking a job. Mohammad Rafeeq, friend of Sharif, had come to receive them. The train hit the two when they were crossing the track. Rafeeq escaped as he crossed the track first. Sharif died on the spot and Aishwarya, who was seriously injured died while undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital. The police have registered a case and an investigation has started.
Aishwarya will be laid to rest at the Puthiyapalam crematorium in Kozhikode at 10 am. She is the daughter of T Mohandas (general secretary, Mankavu Block Congress Committee) and Rani (Medical College HDS Lab Technician). Sharif's body will be brought home today. He is the son of Zubair Haji, owner of Suad Travels in Chennai and Kadeeja.
