THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: MLA from Thavanur, K T Jaleel, finally admitted the wrong committed in 2015 when he along with a stream of opposition MLAs created ruckus inside the legislative assembly. Jaleel’s late renouncement came in the form of a comment given to a user on Facebook. Jaleel on Thursday wrote a post celebrating Teachers’ Day to which a user called out the Thavanur MLA in the appalling incident of 2015.
“It was awful on your part to join other MLAs back in 2015 and create a ruckus inside the assembly. If not for getting elected to the assembly, you would have been the principal of PSMO College by now. Imagine the college going through some protest and the students in a rage throwing away the principal’s chair. Would you agree with that?” this was the comment from the user.
K T Jaleel’s reply:
“Yes, it was a mistake on my part. I shouldn’t have touched the speaker’s chair. At the end of the day, we are all humans and it is normal for us to lose control over our rage. The mistake came in the exasperation of that time and it was puerile.”
Back in 2015, when the then finance minister K M Mani was about to present the state budget, the left MLAs entered the assembly floor in rage. In the ensuing melee, some MLAs went up to the speaker’s dais and destroyed the computers and chairs while Jaleel and CPM leader E P Jayarajan threw away the speaker’s chair.
At the same time, Jaleel announced that he would not contest elections again.
“I don’t want any power. But I will remain a staunch CPM supporter until my last breath. Will be indebted for the recognition given to me by the party” said Jaleel.
