Kerala is once again becoming a model for India through its historic leap in the industrial sector. The state has earned the prestigious title of being the number one industrial-friendly state in the country. Another feather has been added to the state's cap of achievements. Kerala achieved this remarkable feat by topping all nine indicators considered for industrial friendliness. Just four years ago, Kerala was at the bottom of the list but has now made a remarkable turnaround to reach the top spot, making this achievement all the more significant. In 2021, Kerala was ranked 15th, but in just three years, it has achieved the remarkable feat of reaching the top spot. This dream-like achievement is a testament to the state's hard work and dedication. Minister P. Rajeev received the award for this achievement from Union Minister Piyush Goyal the previous day.
We extend our sincere appreciation and congratulations to Minister P. Rajeev, whose visionary leadership and unwavering dedication have been instrumental in propelling the state's industrial department towards achieving this outstanding accomplishment. In an assessment based on the measures and reforms implemented by states to foster a favourable environment, Kerala excelled in nine categories, securing a spot as the top performer. With over 95% marks, Kerala is also the leading state on the 'Top Performers' list. The ranking was carried out in four categories based on the measures taken by the states to create an industry-friendly environment and their performance. Kerala topped in areas such as the single-window system, utility permits, efficiency in providing revenue certificates, transportation facilities, employment exchange services, and efficiency in the tax system.
Kerala boasts a rich legacy of proactive initiatives driven by a forward-thinking approach, rooted in the perspectives of its people, aimed at fostering industrial advancement and comprehensive societal development. We also have a tradition of discussions in this direction, even before the formation of Kerala as a state. It was Sree Narayana Guru, the world guru and renaissance leader of Kerala, who initiated this. In his instructions to his disciples for disseminating Gurudharma, Guru had explicitly emphasized the importance of industries. However, despite some efforts by the governments formed after the birth of unified Kerala, we were unable to achieve significant progress in industrial development due to various reasons.
The industrial sector, which had been held back and constrained by numerous factors including fundamental infrastructure development, resource mobilization, and others, has now achieved unprecedented growth, much like a remarkable triple jump, and has reached its zenith, marking a significant milestone in its journey. Despite facing numerous social disasters, including floods, landslides, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Kerala has achieved unparalleled success, making its accomplishments all the more remarkable. According to Minister P. Rajeev, this success is a testament to the collaborative efforts of government departments, industry officials, and entrepreneurial groups working together towards a common goal. This is an era that opens up new possibilities in the paths of industrial progress, just like in various fields. May the current acknowledgement serve as a motivation to not only consolidate our accomplishments but also propel them to unprecedented heights.
