IDUKKI: A special police team has been appointed to investigate a molestation complaint filed against actor Baburaj. The investigation will be led by Thodupuzha DySP, who will oversee the collection of evidence. As part of the probe, the complainant will be brought to the locations where the alleged harassment took place.
The woman alleges that Baburaj molested her at his house in Aluva and at a resort in Kampiline, Idukki, after offering her a role in a film. She is currently residing outside Kerala and lodged the complaint via email. The complaint, initially sent to the state police chief, was transferred to the Adimali police, who registered the case after collecting information from the woman over the phone. She is a former employee of Baburaj's Munnar resort.
According to the complaint, after completing her degree, the woman began working as a receptionist at Baburaj's resort in Munnar, where she first met the actor during his birthday celebration. Noticing her interest in acting, Baburaj offered her a small role in the film ‘Koodasha’. In 2019, Baburaj invited her to his house in Aluva, under the pretext of discussing a new film, allegedly involving the director, producer and other actors.
However, upon her arrival, only Baburaj and his staff were present. When she inquired about the others, she was asked to wait downstairs. Later, Baburaj allegedly molested her. The next day, she was allowed to leave and she never saw Baburaj again. The woman also claimed she was later offered a position as an assistant director in the film ‘Black Coffee’, which she declined.
