CHENNAI: The Election Commission has approved Tamilaka Vettri Kazhakam (TVK) led by actor Vijay. Vijay himself informed the people about this through his X page. Vijay responded that the first door has been opened and TVK is now into electoral politics. It is reported that the first meeting of the party will be announced soon. According to a press release by Vijay, he will proceed on the principle that everyone is equal.
Vijay had unveiled his party's flag at an event in Chennai last month. The colours of the flag are red and yellow. Vijay himself hoisted the flag on the 30 feet tall flagpole installed at the party headquarters. Last February, Vijay announced the party as Tamilaka Vettri Kazhakam. Vijay had announced that he was ending his film career and was targeting the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections in 2026.
The state conference of TVK is being held because the police did not get permission. The letter given by TVK seeking permission to hold the conference has been left undecided by the police raising various questions. The first reports are that the first general meeting will be held on September 23 in Villupuram district. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are expected to participate in the conference.
