MANANTHAVADY: Marriage broker has been arrested for conducting the marriage of a minor Scheduled Tribe girl with a 40-year-old man using forged documents. The arrested has been identified as K C Sunil Kumar (36). The first accused is the groom K Sujith (40) of Kuyyadiyil House in Puthiyappu Vadakara. He was arrested earlier. Sections in the POCSO case and sections of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been charged. Broker Sunil Kumar was arrested by a team led by SMS DySP M M Abdul Kareem.

The marriage was solemnised by misusing the ignorance of her parents, influencing relatives by giving them money and changing the date of birth in a copy of the girl's Aadhaar card. The wedding took place in January.

Sunil Kumar received a huge amount as a broker's fee from Sujith. Photos of more girls belonging to the Scheduled Tribes community were found on Sunil Kumar's phone.

The SMS DySP said that they are investigating the gang that is arranging marriages and remarriage of minor children in Wayanad district within and outside the district. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
