KOCHI: The government will not appeal against the anticipatory bail granted to M Mukesh MLA in the sexual misconduct case. It is hinted that the government has given directions to the investigation team. The earlier information was that the government would file an appeal against the anticipatory bail in the high court. The proposal of the home department came when the SIT was deciding about it. The letter sent by the SIT will be returned by the prosecution. The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court granted anticipatory bail to Mukesh in the case. If the appeal is not filed in Mukesh's case, the government will not file an appeal in the case of being granted bail to Edavela Babu.
The court granted anticipatory bail to Mukesh after hearing the complainant's statement in secret. The court in their order also pointed that there was no indication of forced sex in the statement of the complainant. The sessions court had also disposed of the anticipatory bail plea of another accused, Edavela Babu. The earlier understanding was that further action in the case would be done after clarifying this order.
The actress levelled the allegations against seven people including Mukesh on August 26. A complaint was filed with the special investigation team through email later. The Maradu police conducted the investigation against Mukesh. The court granted bail to Mukesh on September 5.
