MALAPPURAM: 30-year-old Vishnujith, son of Sasindran, from Kuranthalaveedu, Mankada Pallipuram, has been reported missing just days before his scheduled wedding. Vishnujith was set to marry a woman from Manjeri yesterday but has not been heard from since September 4.

According to family sources, Vishnujith had travelled to Palakkad on the 4th to arrange money for his wedding. That evening, around 8 pm, he called home to inform his family that he would be staying at a relative’s house and would return the next day. However, his phone was switched off soon after, and he has not been reachable since.

A friend from Palakkad reported that Vishnujith had borrowed ₹1 lakh. CCTV footage later confirmed that he boarded a bus to Coimbatore. The last location of his mobile phone was traced to Kanjikode. Despite these leads, his whereabouts remain unknown.

Vishnujith, an employee of an ice company in Kanjikode, had been facing financial difficulties leading up to his wedding, but his family stated that he had no other significant problems. The marriage had been arranged with his long-time girlfriend of four years. Notably, Vishnujith transferred ₹10,000 to his sister's account on Wednesday, suggesting he still had some funds when he disappeared.

The Malappuram police, in response to a missing person's complaint filed by his family, have launched an investigation. A two-member team, led by SP S Sasidharan, has been appointed to look into the case.
