Shashi Tharoor to join BJP? major political move with backing of BJP central leadership

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A recent report claims that a senior leader of the Congress is likely planning to join the BJP soon. Although the rumours are centred around Shashi Tharoor, the Thiruvananthapuram MP and senior Congress leader, he has yet to respond to the speculation.

According to reports, the Congress MP has held discussions with the BJP central leadership, despite the state leadership's apparent disinterest in him coming to the BJP. However, the BJP central leadership believes that if they can bring the senior leader to their side, it will politically benefit the party in Kerala.

BJP state president K Surendran had held discussions with central leaders in Delhi in recent days. Notably, this is not the first time Tharoor's name has been linked to the BJP, as similar rumours have surfaced in the past, only to be denied by the Congress leader.
