IMPHAL: The Kuki-Meitei clash between tribes is aggravating in Manipur. A 46-year-old woman from Kangpokpi district was killed in the conflict, police said. There are reports that the assailants set fire to several houses in the village.

Clashes have been going on in the area since Sunday night. The media also reported that residents fled to the nearby forest. The deceased was a young woman named Nemjakhol Lungdim. The body of the woman was handed over to her relatives after post-mortem at Churachandpur district hospital. It is reported that bombardment is going on at the place.

Amidst the new wave of riots, there comes a strong demand to change the DGP of Manipur. The Meitei sect set fire to the village in Jiribam, abandoned by the Kuki tribes. On Monday, a march by students demanding the withdrawal of the armed forces from Manipur turned brutally violent.

Thousands of people protested at the Secretariat and in front of the Raj Bhavan. Stones were pelted at Raj Bhavan. 20 people were injured in the clash. A CRPF vehicle was also attacked.
