Reshuffle at IPS level as well; Nagaraju appointed as Transport Commissioner, Shyamsundar named South Zone IG

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the reshuffle in the Malappuram Police, the state government has made a reshuffle at the IPS level as well. Crime Branch IG CH Nagaraju has been appointed as the Transport Commissioner. This comes after IG Akbar, who was previously appointed as the Transport Commissioner, refused to take up the responsibility.

IG Akbar was appointed as the replacement for ADGP S Sreejith, who resigned due to differences with Minister KB Ganesh Kumar. However, Akbar was appointed as the IG of the Ernakulam Crime Branch a month later.

S Shyamsundar, who was the Kochi City Police Commissioner, has been appointed as South Zone IG. He will also hold additional charge as the Managing Director of the Police Housing Construction Corporation. J Jayanathan, who was the MD of the Police Housing Construction Corporation, has been appointed as the DIG in charge of Citizen Rights Protection.

Putta Vimaladitya, the DIG of the Anti-Terrorist Squad, has been appointed as the Kochi City Police Commissioner. He will also hold additional charge of the Anti-Terrorist Squad. Thompson Joseph, the DIG of Thrissur Range, has been given an additional charge as the DIG of Ernakulam Range.
