11-year-old boy commits suicide after elder brother refuses to give him phone

KALLARA: In a shocking incident, an 11-year-old boy hanged himself in the bathroom of his home after his elder brother refused to give him mobile phone. The deceased has been identified as Shivanand SR (11), the son of Keezhar native Shaji and Rachana.

According to police, Shivanand was playing on the mobile phone when his elder brother Shiva took away the phone from his hand. Upset over not getting the mobile back, the boy went to the bathroom, tied a rope around his neck, and hanged himself.

When Shivanand didn't respond to calls after a while, the family became concerned and broke open the bathroom door to find him hanging in the bathroom. Although he was immediately rushed to the Nedumangad District Hospital, his life could not be saved. Brother: Shiva.
