LUCKNOW: Another attack has been reported in Uttar Pradesh's Bahraich district, which has been gripped by man-eating wolves. An 11-year-old girl, who was seriously injured in the wolf attack, is undergoing treatment. The forest department and the locals have launched a search to nab this wolf. Ten people, including nine children, have lost their lives in wolf attacks here in the last one-and-a-half months. 36 people were seriously injured. The forest department had caught a wolf the other day. So far, five wolves have been captured. Though a special mission called 'Operation Bhediya' was launched to capture the wolves, there has been no shortage of attacks. Drones are also being used for the search.

The village has been under a condition similar to a lockdown for two months due to the fear of wolves. A wolf even took away a baby who was sleeping with the mother inside the house and killed it. Some of the bodies were found partially eaten. Locals are not going to work and children are not going to school. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors and remain vigilant.

Wolves have a greater tendency to take revenge. Some forest department officials suspect that some form of revenge is the reason for current attacks. In 1996, more than 60 children were killed by wolves in Pratapgarh and nearby districts of Sultanpur and Jaunpur. This happened after some children killed two wolf cubs in the area.
