College professor collapses, dies during Onam celebration in Kochi

KOCHI: A teacher of Thevara SH College collapsed and died while celebrating Onam on Wednesday. Thodpuzha, Kallorkkad native James V George died in the incident. He was a staff secretary in college and the assistant professor in commerce division.

At around 4 pm on Wednesday, after taking part in the tug-of-war competition as part of the teachers' Onam celebration, James went to rest but collapsed soon after. He was immediately rushed to Ernakulam Medical Trust Hospital but died.

James is the son of the late Varky and Mary. The body will be taken to his residence in Thodupuzha on Thursday morning. The public will be allowed to pay homage from 8.30 am to 9.30 am. James leaves behind his wife Sona George (Asst. Professor, Newman College, Thodupuzha) and his two-year-old child.
