NEW DELHI: CPI(M) Polit Bureau member MA Baby said that the Left politics has lost the embodiment of gentleness with the demise of CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury. He also said that Yechury was a person who never hesitated to fight against the corruption in the country.
"Sitaram Yechury was a man who always wore a smile on his face, even in the most challenging situations. His responses to the tricky questions of journalists were always precise and powerful, yet came with a smile. His style was as simple as his appearance. Another speciality of his was that he spoke in a language that everyone could understand. Although he was a gentle presence, Sitaram Yechury never compromised when it came to fighting against corruptions in the country. Even former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, had felt the intensity of his fighting spirit," MA Baby said.
"Despite being seventy-two years old, Sitaram Yechury was regarded by his followers and others as the face of the Communist Party's youthful energy. Affectionately referred to as 'SRY' by his supporters, he maintained constant communication with people from all walks of life, both within and outside the party. This ability to connect with others was undoubtedly a key factor in his rise as a beloved and respected leader. This ability enabled him to stand in front when it came to forming the INDIA alliance. His tireless efforts to rebuild the CPI(M), which is going through a period of setbacks, were cut short by his untimely death," MA Baby added.
