AICC general secretary KC Venugopal MP's Onam gift to Keralites coming back home from Karnataka during Onam season. The Karnataka RTC will run a special bus service to Alappuzha and Thiruvananthapuram following the intervention of KC Venugopal MP. Taking advantage of the rush, private buses are charging higher fares. There is also a situation where even if passengers pay a higher rate, they won't get a ticket.
The Karnataka RTC's move will help the passengers to escape from the looting of tickets of private buses. These two special bus services will be a big relief for those coming from Karnataka to Alappuzha to celebrate the Onam holidays. Those who need a ticket to Ernakulam, Cherthala and Alappuzha tomorrow can book their tickets online.
The buses will depart from Shantinagar bus stand in Bangalore at 4.15 pm and 7.15 pm on September 13. The bus that will leave at 4.15 pm will reach Thiruvananthapuram at 7.30 am the next day. The bus that will leave at 7.45 pm will reach Alappuzha at 7.30 am the next day. The ticket price is Rs 2583.
Karnataka RTC's Airavat Club Class AC semi-sleeper buses will be operated on both routes. KC Venugopal's intervention came after Malayalees brought the difficulties of travelling from Bangalore to Alappuzha during the Onam season to his notice. Karnataka Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy was asked to run special bus services by KC Venugopal in view of the hardships faced by Keralites visiting home during Onam season.
The Karnataka RTCC will operate around 60 special bus services to Kerala on Thursdays and Fridays. The schedules of bus services back to Karnataka will be announced later, officials said.
