NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways has released a list of the top revenue-generating stations in the country. As per the figures released by the Railways, seven stations are earning over 1000 crores annually. No railway stations from Kerala were featured in this list. The figures for the financial year 2023-24 showed that only Chennai from Southern Railway has achieved over 1000 crores in annual revenue.
New Delhi station, with an annual revenue of 3337 crores, tops the list. Howrah station is in second place with 1692 crores. Chennai Central, with an annual revenue of 1299 crores, is also on the list, representing South India. 28 stations are included in the Non-Suburban category, which is the largest category based on passenger numbers and revenue. The Mumbai region leads this category.
Kerala's railway stations are also showcasing impressive revenue performance. Among them, Thiruvananthapuram Central stands out with an annual revenue of 281.12 crores. Ernakulam Junction is second (241.71 crores), followed by Kozhikode in third place, and Thrissur in fourth place. Ernakulam Town, Kannur, Palakkad Junction, and Kollam Junction follow in the subsequent positions. Thiruvananthapuram Central also leads in terms of annual passenger numbers, with 1.31 crore people using the station.
