KANNUR: CPM central committee member EP Jayarajan retracted his decision not to travel on IndiGo airlines as he boarded the same flight on Friday to reach Delhi and pay homage to late CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury. Jayarajan flew to Delhi on an Indigo flight from Karipur.
For manhandling some youth congress workers inside the flight, IndiGo imposed a three-month ban on Jayarajan, which received the ire of the CPM leader who publicly announced not flying on the airlines again.
Even after lifting the ban, Jayarajan resented travelling in IndiGo and chose Vande Bharat for his commute. Despite good attempts from IndiGo to persuade the leader, Jayarajan did not relent.
In other news, it is reported that Jayarajan is mulling plans to end his active political career. After being ignored and downsized within the party, Jayarajan remained at odds with the leadership, and his long leave is considered to be a sign of his impending exit.
Amidst the rumours, there are talks about works ongoing within the party to remove Jayarajan from the central committee.
