THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: On Friday, the High Court rejected the petition of the opposition leader demanding a CBI investigation into the K-FON contract deal. The court observed no irregularity or illegality in the K-FON deal until now. Earlier, opposition leader V D Satheesan had alleged a big scam in the K-FON deal in Kerala.
The court denied the demand for a CBI investigation into the project but said the legislature could conduct a detailed investigation after the CAG report.
Earlier, the High Court had criticized the opposition leader while considering the petition. A division bench comprising the Chief Justice enquired about the public interest in the petition and also questioned the trend of using the court for every trivial matter. The court also asked the motive behind questioning a contract that came out in 2018.
The petition pointed out that the contract was awarded with an increase of up to 40 per cent, whereas it is not possible to increase the amount by more than 10 per cent over the tender amount. A well-planned corruption was alleged by the opposition leader in this contract.
