KOZHIKODE: The family of the victim have come forward with serious allegations against the hospital in Ulliyeri for the shocking stillbirth incident. Aswathy and her newborn died in the incident. And now, Aswathy’s husband Vivek responded to the media regarding the issue.

“At first, the doctor decided to do a C-section but later when the pain aggravated, they changed the decision. Despite her cries, the doctors didn’t relent and they said my wife was faking the pain.

We even requested service from the doctor we usually consulted, but he was not on duty that day. Even when she was moved to a ventilator, the family was not informed about the decision. When her condition turned worse, the hospital authorities requested the family to move her into some other hospital for better treatment.’ Said Vivek.

The Atholi police have registered a case on the complaint filed by the relatives alleging medical negligence to be the reason behind the death. Aswathy was admitted to the Malabar Medical College Hospital in Ulliyeri for delivery. The newborn died on Thursday morning while Aswathy died while undergoing treatment on Friday night.

Meanwhile, Malabar Medical College responded that the death happened due to the victim's high blood pressure and denied any medical negligence.
