THRISSUR: Just a few days back, Guruvayur temple created a record for conducting the largest number of weddings on a single day. And now comes another news about the temple revenue reaching Rs 5.80 crore in September alone.
The treasure count for September 2024 has been completed today and so far Rs 58,081,109 has been collected. Along with this two kg 626 g 500 mg of gold was received as offerings. 17 kg and 700 grams of silver have also been found.
Interestingly this also includes 29 currencies of the banned two thousand rupees, 13 currencies of the banned one thousand rupees and 114 currencies of five hundred rupees. Officials informed that Rs 5.39 lakh was received through East Nada E-Bhandaram and Rs 34146 through West Nada E-Bhandaram.
On September 8, Guruvayur got engulfed in a wedding aura, with 351 weddings taking place inside the temple premises. This was considered to be the most auspicious day of the Chingam month. The wedding started at 4 am and ended late in the afternoon.
With Thiruvonam just a day away, the Devaswom officials have decided to extend the darshan timings at the temple. Preparations are in the final stages in Guruvayur for the temple functions including the Uthrada kazhchakkula samarpanam, Guruvayurappan Onapudava dedication and especially 'Kazhcha shiveli' as part of the Thiruvonam celebrations.
