RAIPUR: In a concerning situation, stones were pelted at a Vande Bharat train, set to be inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi on Monday. The incident took place in Chhattisgarh during a trial run from Durg in Chhattisgarh to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Five people were arrested in the incident.
While returning from Visakhapatnam on Friday morning, stones were pelted on the Vande Bharat train near Bagbahara railway station. The multi-layered windows of three coaches of the train were shattered by the stone pelting. The windows of C2, C4 and C9 coaches were broken. Shiv Kumar Bagal, Devendra Kumar, Jeethu Pandey Sonwani and Arjun Yadav were arrested in the incident. All are villagers of Bagbahara.
Stone pelting at Vande Bharat trains has been a recurring incident all across the country. Even last week, stones were pelted at a Vande Bharat train running between Lucknow and Patna. The window of the train was broken in the violence. The incident took place on the road between Banaras and Kashi.
Last June, there was stone pelting on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat Express in Thrissur. The windows of two coaches were broken in the attack. No injury was reported.
