Kolkata doctor's rape and murder case: Former principal arrested

KOLKATA: The CBI has arrested Sandeep Ghosh, former Principal of RG Kar Medical College, in connection with the sensational Kolkata rape and murder case. Ghosh has been charged with tampering with evidence and other sections. He was previously arrested by the CBI for his alleged involvement in financial irregularities in the college.

Tala Police Station SHO Abhijit Mondal has also been arrested. The arrest was made due to his alleged role in delaying the registration of the case and tampering with evidence. According to the CBI, Sandeep Ghosh and the investigating officer had conspired to cover up the case.

Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited the protesting doctors at the protest site and assured them that she would look into their demands and take action against the culprits. She said that she had come as "didi" (elder sister) and not as the Chief Minister. The doctors were protesting against the rape and murder of a doctor.
