NEW DELHI: President of India, Droupadi Murmu greeted Keralites on the eve of Onam.
“It is also an occasion to celebrate the rich cultural heritage and traditions of Kerala. On this occasion, we also express our deep gratitude to the farmers, who work tirelessly to feed our nation. This festival of prosperity also encourages us to promote social harmony,”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X to convey his greetings for Onam. The prime minister’s message came in Malayalam. “May there be peace, prosperity and well-being everywhere.” The Prime Minister also noted that the Malayali community all over the world is celebrating Kerala's glorious festival Onam with enthusiasm.
Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan wished all Malayalees a happy Onam and said that the glory of Onam is not in the celebration itself but in the message of hope it conveys. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a message that Onam is a reminder of the non-discriminatory and egalitarian era that was believed to have existed in the past. He also opined that Onam celebrations can be made meaningful by participating in the rehabilitation of the victims in Wayanad.
