Woman sexually abused while bystanding son in Kolkata Hospital

KOLKATA: The police arrested a health worker in the incident of sexually abusing a 26-year-old woman who was sleeping in the hospital with her sick son. The incident happened at the Institute of Child Health (ICH) in Kolkata. Tanay Pal (26), a ward boy of the hospital, has been arrested. This incident happened even before the shock of the incident in which a trainee doctor was brutally abused and killed at the R G Kar Medical College Hospital in West Bengal, waned.

The woman's complaint is that the accused entered the children’s ward, touched her and abused her. He recorded the incident on his mobile phone. The police lodged an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and arrested the accused. The police informed that his phone has been sent for forensic examination. He was produced in the court and taken into police custody.

Many people have criticized the incident. BJP IT cell chief and party's state leader Amit Malviya has slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's government. He criticized her on his X handle. He said that women are unsafe in government hospitals in West Bengal. Amit Malviya stated that the chief minister is not yet ready to accept the demands put forward by the doctors in the state regarding the murder of the trainee doctor.

A nurse was also abused in a government hospital in West Bengal's Birbhum district. She was abused while giving a drip to a patient who was brought to the hospital on a stretcher due to high fever. With this, the nurse shouted and informed the people and filed a complaint with the police. The patient was arrested by the police.
