Holiday for educational institutions, mask made mandatory; alert issued to two panchayats in Malappuram

MALAPPURAM: The health department imposed restrictions in various places in Malappuram following the death of 24-year-old youth due to Nipah in Thiruvali. District Collector V R Vinod issued an order that people must wear masks while going out. Strict restrictions have also been imposed in five wards of Thiruvali and Mampad Panchayat. The decision was taken in the meeting chaired by Health Minister Veena George. Wards 4, 5, 6 and 7 of Tiruvali panchayat and 7th ward of Mampad panchayat have been declared as containment zone.

Minister Veena George had informed the other day that prevention activities have been intensified, including the initial contact list of the 24-year-old student in Bengaluru. So far 151 people are in the contact list. The minister stated that the youth had traveled to some places with his friends, the details of all of them were collected and those who came in direct contact were shifted to isolation.

People of the ward declared as containment zone should be vigilant

1. People should not congregate in public places

2. Business establishments may operate only from 10 am to 7 pm. This restriction does not apply to medical stores

3. Cinema theaters should not operate

4. Schools, colleges, madrassas, anganwadis and tuition centers should not function

General regulations

1. Public gatherings should be avoided as much as possible

2. Masks must be worn by the public when going out, traveling and in other gatherings

3. School students and teachers must wear masks during school working hours

4. Gatherings should be minimized and social distancing should also be maintained during weddings/deaths/other celebrations

5. Seek medical advice if you experience fever, vomiting or other physical discomfort. In case of contamination, call 0483-2732010 and 0483-2732050

6. Do not under any circumstances eat fruits that have been bitten by birds, bats, other creatures, etc. or fallen from fruit trees
