MALAPPURAM: The saliva samples of ten people with Nipah symptoms were collected. The samples were taken from Mancheri Medical College Hospital. The results of the samples sent to the Kozhikode lab will come out today evening.

The health department released the contact list of the youth who died due to Nipah near Vandoor yesterday. So far 151 people are on the primary contact list. The samples of ten people with symptoms have now been taken.

A contact list of the youth has been prepared based on the mobile location. The health department is also checking where the young man went after coming from Bengaluru. Two months ago in Bengaluru, the young man had come home and sought treatment after suffering from jaundice. Although he recovered from his illness, he returned home last week after sustaining a leg injury. Later he was suffering from fever and sought treatment.

As the death of the young man was confirmed to be due to Nipah, restrictions have been imposed in various places in Malappuram district. In Malappuram district, the district collector has issued an order that people must wear masks while going out. District Collector VR Vinod declared four, five, six and seven wards of Thiruvali panchayat and seventh ward of Mampad panchayat as containment zone.
