THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation has been honored with the prestigious 2024 Vayosevana Award by the state government, recognizing its outstanding contributions to the welfare of senior citizens.
In her response after receiving the award, Mayor Arya Rajendran emphasized that the welfare of the elderly is a shared responsibility of society. "The elderly should be integral to our path of development. This recognition is a testament to our commitment to improving their quality of life," she said.
The corporation has implemented several welfare schemes aimed at enhancing the living conditions of the elderly, with this award serving as a recognition of those efforts. Mayor Rajendran expressed pride in the achievement, stating, "This is a moment of pride for the city. It underscores the effectiveness of our initiatives for senior citizens."
Looking ahead, the mayor announced plans for new projects, including Vayojanolsavam, aimed at enriching the lives of the elderly.
