NEW DELHI: India’s first Vande Metro train has been renamed as ‘Namo Bharat Rapid Rail’, the Indian Railways said. The inaugural run of India's first Vande Metro train commenced from Bhuj Railway Station in Gujarat, heading towards Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi ceremoniously flagged off the maiden service. The launch of the Vande Metro train was held virtually in Ahmedabad. The Prime Minister will also dedicate six new Vande Bharat train services to the nation.
The Namo Bharat Rapid Rail will cover the 359 km distance from Bhuj to Ahmedabad in 5 hours and 45 minutes. The train will have stops at nine stations. Regular services will commence on Wednesday. The train can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h.
The ticket fare between Ahmedabad and Bhuj is ₹455. This train is fully air-conditioned, and equipped with state-of-the-art amenities and advanced security systems. The Namo Bharat Rapid train has 12 coaches with a seating capacity of 1,150 passengers. No reservation is required, and the minimum ticket fare is ₹30.
