NEW DELHI: The release of the Hema committee report has given the necessary dose of courage for many actresses across the Indian film industry to open up about their long-shrouded ordeals. Actress and MP Kangana Ranaut has revealed that the situation in Bollywood is no different. She alleged that Bollywood actors exploit their female colleagues. The disclosure was made while speaking at the News 18 India Chaupal program.
Kangana:
"Do you know how these heroes attack women? First comes a dinner party invite, only after bombarding our phones with messages.
Take the example of the Kolkata rape case or the sexual threats against me through social media. We as a society have failed when it comes to respecting women. Even college students make unscrupulous remarks at actresses. The heroes in the film industry are no different.
Once when Saroj Khan, a leading choreographer was asked about sexual harassment in the film industry, and she said “They will abuse actresses sexually but will also provide them food”. This sums up the situation of actresses in the industry."
Kangana's allegation comes after the release of Hema committee report that rocked the Malayalam film industry.
