Case against those who assaulted Ajmal; Crucial CCTV visuals of accident surface

MYNAGAPPALLY: The police will file a case against those who attacked Ajmal, the accused, in the incident of killing a woman scooter passenger. The case will be filed against a friend and some other known people. Police said Ajmal was beaten when he reached his friend's house in Edakulangara after the accident. The action is based on Ajmal's medical examination report. Ajmal also testified that he was beaten up. The Karunagappally police is investigating the incident.


Crucial CCTV footage of the accident has surfaced. The visuals of the accused speeding in the car after the accident and being chased by the locals emerged. The locals chased the car in bikes and stopped it.


When the car lost control and stopped on the road side, youths on bike stopped the vehicle. The visuals show the door of the car being opened and Ajmal is taken out and the locals interrogate him. Ajmal, who is angry with the locals, pushes them away and goes through the side of the shop, followed by Sreekutty, another accused in the case. The motor vehicle department said that Ajmal's license will be suspended. After this, further steps will be taken, the officials said.


Dr Sreekutty gave a statement to the police that she met Ajmal two months ago. Within two months, Ajmal had received Rs 8 lakhs from her. Sreekutty told the police that she gave Ajmal Rs 8 lakh including cash and gold. The police said that they will examine the bank records of Ajmal and Sreekutty to find out whether more transactions have taken place.
