DUBAI: International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that the prize money in the men's and women's World Cups will henceforth be equal. The decision will be implemented for the first time in the Women's T20 World Cup, which begins in the UAE. The decision was taken at the annual meeting held in July 2023. This decision, which is to be implemented by 2030, will be executed soon. With this, cricket became the first sport to give equal pay to the men's and women's categories.

In 2023, the winner, Australia, received $1 million. The winner of the Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE will receive a prize money of $2.34 million. With this, there will be an increase of 134 per cent in the prize money this time. The remuneration for the runners-up will increase from $500,000 to $1.17 million. Those who lose in the semi-finals will get $675,000 instead of $210,000.

The Women's T20 World Cup, which was scheduled to be held in Bangladesh, was shifted to the UAE after players from other teams raised security concerns. India will take on Pakistan on October 6 in the series, which starts on October 3.
