Mynagappally hit and run; Sreekutty's bail plea rejected, accused to be produced in court tomorrow

KOLLAM: The court rejected the bail plea of Dr Sreekutty, the accused in the murder case of a scooter rider in Mynagappally. The bail plea was rejected by the Sasthamkotta court. The court will hear the plea to take the accused into custody tomorrow. The accused will be produced in court tomorrow.

The move is to take the first accused Ajmal and the second accused Sreekutty into custody and complete the procedures including evidence collection. The Sasthamkotta court had remanded both the accused in judicial custody for 14 days. Both have been charged with culpable homicide. The police are also examining whether the accused, who were under the influence of alcohol, used chemical drugs.

Kunjumol, a native of Mynagappally, died after being hit by the car driven by Ajmal. Ajmal and the woman doctor who was with him managed to escape after riding the car over the body of the woman who fell on the road. The accused in the case, Dr. Sreekutty was sacked from her job. Sreekutty was a temporary doctor at Karunagappally Valiyath Hospital in Kollam.
