ALAPPUZHA: In a tragic incident, a student while returning home after attending his friend’s father’s funeral, died after getting hit by a train. Chettikad native, Vysakh (20), son of Ranjukumar and Chitra, died in the incident.

The accident took place at Salkala junction north of Pathirapally rail cross on the coastal road around 6.30 pm on Wednesday. Vysakh, who was walking home, kept his headphones and failed to hear the horns raised by the train. His body was dismembered in the accident which made it difficult for the police to identify the victim.

The identity was revealed after police removed the SIM card from the broken mobile phone and inserted it into another phone. Vysakh was a hotel management student.
