Sexual assault on woman writer; Film director V K Prakash arrested

KOLLAM: Popular film director V K Prakash was arrested by Pallithottam police on Thursday for alleged sexual assault charges. Prakash was later released on bail.

According to the complainant, also a writer, V K Prakash summoned her to a hotel in 2012, on the pretext of hearing her script for a movie. However, in the complaint, it is stated that the director sexually assaulted her inside the room. After the police registered a case, Prakash approached the High Court and got bail.

The court asked Prakash to appear before the investigation officers and give statements when demanded. Conforming with the condition, for the past three days, V K Prakash has been appearing before Pallithottam police to give statements.

Thursday was the last day of interrogation. After recording the statement, he was arrested and released on bail as per the court order. The details including the transcript of V K Prakash's statement will be handed over to the Special Investigation Team. SIT will take further steps in the case.
