KONNI: A first-year B.Sc. nursing student of Govt Medical College was found hanging dead in a lodge near the college. Kallara-Pangode native Abin (19), son of Anilkumar and Elsy, died in the incident. The dead body was found hanging from a fan at Ramanilayam Lodge near the college. Abin used to share the room with four of his classmates. Last few days, he was alone in the room as all the others went home to celebrate Onam.

Abin’s parents have been trying to contact him for the last two days but to no avail. On Sunday at noon, the family informed the lodge owner about the concern. The owner along with others forcedly barged into the room to see the Abin hanging dead from the fan.

Just one day back, Abin sent WhatsApp messages to his parents expressing his love and said he would never forget them. Abin also sent a few messages to his friends but deleted them later. Abin’s father Anil Kumar is a contract employee with KSEB while his mother Elsy works in a garment shop. Abin was an exceptional student armed with full A Plus in all subjects in SSLC and on his 12th standard.

He received admission for BSc nursing on merit. Abin returned to his hostel on Friday after spending time with his family for Onam. All of his friends are in sheer disbelief and shock as they recount how energetic and happy Abin was just a few days back while celebrating the Onam festival in the college.
