KOCHI: With the Kerala High Court rejecting the anticipatory bail plea filed by actor Siddique in connection with the sexual harassment complaint filed by a young actress, the police are gearing up to arrest the veteran actor. Considering the possibility of the actor fleeing abroad, the police have issued a lookout circular at the airports.
According to reports, the Special Investigation Team will go to Kochi to arrest Siddique. The police say that there is no obstacle to arresting the actor. The head of the Crime Branch has directed the Kochi police to arrest Sidhique immediately. All the mobile phones of Siddique are currently switched off. It is reported that the actor is not there at home in Aluva. According to sources, Siddique has decided to approach the Supreme Court.
The investigating team had obtained compelling additional evidence and witness statements substantiating the sexual harassment allegations against actor Siddique. The investigating team informed the court that the evidence corroborates and validates the allegations and statements made by the actress.
The court had earlier heard the case on the anticipatory bail plea but had postponed pronouncing the verdict. Senior advocate B Raman Pillai who appeared for the petitioner argued that the complainant had not raised the rape before and the complaint was baseless. It is alleged that the incident happened in 2012. Siddiqui's allegation was that the complainant had raised a carefully prepared story.
However, Additional Public Prosecutor P Narayanan, appearing for the government, argued in the court that Siddique was hiding many facts and there was evidence that the two had reached the Mascot Hotel.
