NEW DELHI: Actor Siddique, in his plea for anticipatory bail in the supreme court argued that he was being targeted for the dispute between film actors’ organization AMMA and Women in Cinema Collective(WCC). Siddique is still at large and is evading arrest in the molestation case. Siddique also found fault with the police showing haste to arrest him without caring to conduct a thorough investigation.

A letter requesting the anticipatory bail plea to be considered on Monday has been issued. Ranjeeta Rohatgi, junior of senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, filed the petition online in the Supreme Court.

“When the complainant made the allegations on social media during 2019, she never mentioned rape” Siddique argued on SC.

Meanwhile, the DGP has directed newspapers in all states to publish search notices as part of intensifying action against Siddique.

An email has been sent to the DGPs of all states with a request in this regard. Newspapers in other states have also been given a phone number to identify the actor and inform the investigation team. Kerala police on Wednesday instructed newspapers in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to publish the notification with Siddique's photo and the phone number of the investigating team. A special vigilance team has been instituted in Chennai and Bengaluru.
