KOCHI: Justice Nitin Madhukar Jamdar has been sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. Governor Arif Muhammad Khan administered the oath of office at a function held at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan attended the function. Nitin Madhukar, a native of Maharashtra, was earlier the Chief Justice of the Mumbai High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had already given the Center a proposal to appoint Nitin Madhukar Jamdar as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court. However, the Center delayed the decision. The Center had earlier objected to the appointment of Chief Justices. Following this, the Collegium made changes in the appointments of three Chief Justices. A decision was taken not to make any changes in the appointment to Kerala.
