Rs 2 crore worth gold stolen in Thrissur; vital footages out

THRISSUR: The visuals of the gold robbery in broad daylight in Kuthiran is out. Gold worth Rs 2 crore was stolen from the national highway in Thrissur. The visuals of the robbery gang coming in three cars has emerged. The visuals of the robbery were captured on the camera of a private bus.

The incident happened yesterday morning at Kallidukkil at 11.15 am. The masked team robbed the gold when it was brought to Thrissur from Coimbatore in a car. The masked men came in Innova and a Renault Triber.

The team followed the Maruti Swift Dzire car carrying the gold and stopped the car. The team attacked the gold merchant Arun Sunny of Thrissur Kizhakkekotta and his friend Roji Thomas with knife and axe. The team also threatened the two.

The robbery team later dropped Arun Surry at Puthur and Roji Thomas at Paliyekkara. Arun immediately informed the Olloor police. The miscreants were wearing masks. Arun told police that they were talking in Alappuzha slang. The Peechi police have intensified probe in the incident. The investigation is now progressing focusing on the CCTV footage of the vehicles carrying the miscreants.
