PATHANAMTHITTA: CPM Pathanamthitta district secretary KP Udayabhanu invited some spotlight for his jibe at snakes being worshipped in India.
UDHAYABHANU:
“Nobody considers snakes as gods. Naga Kshetra (snake temples) are nothing but abodes for snakes to reside. A snake is a reptile without any brain and will bite on the same hands that fed them. In China, people eat snakes while we here worship snakes and monkeys.
Udayabhanu mocked that the RSS people were the ones who opposed the declaration of wild boars as vermin in Kerala.
“The RSS says that the pig is the third incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Hiranyakaship rolled the earth into a mat and lowered it into the sea. To save the earth, Lord Vishnu incarnated as Varaha and brought back earth from the sea. This is the story being circulated.
These fools must think that when the earth shrinks, so will the ocean. For his saviour act, Earth fell in love with Varaha. That is how Narakasura was born. Narakasura was born to Lord Vishnu and Mother Earth (Bhudevi) during the Lord's incarnation as Varaha (wild boar). These are the stories spread by such people."
Udayabhanu’s remarks came while inaugurating a march led by a farmers' group to Konni's DFO office, demanding a solution to wild animals destroying crops. There is also speculation about Udhayabhanu deliberately courting controversy to gain popularity among voters as there remains a chance that he will be considered a candidate for Konni in upcoming assembly elections.
