Man sets house on fire, wife dies in blaze, two children critically injured

KOCHI: A man allegedly took his own life by setting his house on fire, resulting in the death of his wife and critically injuring their two children. The man, identified as H Sasi, a native of Puliyanam, was found hanged after reportedly opening the gas cylinder pipe to ignite the fire.

His wife, Sumi Sanal, who was sleeping inside the house at the time, was unable to escape and tragically perished in the flames. The couple's two children, who sustained severe burns, were rushed to a private hospital in Ernakulam, where their condition remains critical.

According to the police, a suicide note left by Sasi cited financial difficulties as the reason behind the drastic act. Both bodies have been shifted for post-mortem examinations and the authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
