TEL AVIV: Hezbollah has clarified that its leader Hassan Nasrallah was not killed in Israel's airstrike. Hezbollah's media relations officer, Hajj Mohammad Afif, told Iranian media that Hezbollah Secretary General Nasrallah was not injured in the attack and was not in the area targeted by Israel, NBC News reported.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military claims to have destroyed Hezbollah's headquarters in Beirut in the attack. Yesterday, the Israeli army confirmed that it destroyed many buildings in Dahiyeh, the stronghold of Hezbollah in Beirut. Reports emerged that Nasrallah was in the area and was killed in the attack. The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that nine people were killed and more than 90 were injured in the Israeli airstrike.
Israel's airstrikes took place in Beirut yesterday after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the UN. This is the fourth attack by Israel in southern Beirut targeting Hezbollah commanders.
Israel's military has deployed more tanks and armored vehicles to Lebanon's northern border, warning of a ground war. The move comes after the Israeli army was instructed to enter Lebanon by land. Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is reported to have instructed the army to be ready for war.
