INDORE: A BJP leader said people should drink cow urine (gaumutra) before entering garba pandal as part of Navratri celebrations. Indore BJP district president Chintu Verma came forward with the new demand. Chintu requested the organizers of the Navratri festival to make people drink the urine before allowing them to enter the garba pandal. Chintu Verma told the media that if they are Hindus, they will have no objection in drinking the cow urine.

‘Some people join such programs unnecessarily. This will lead to discussions. Aadhaar card can be edited. However, if one is a true Hindu he will drink cow urine without any hesitation. He will never reject it,' Chintu Verma said when asked the reason behind this statement.

Meantime, the Congress termed Chintu Verma's call as a new strategy to polarize the party. Congress spokesperson Neelabh Shukla alleged that BJP leaders are keeping silent on the plight of cow shelters and are only interested in politicizing the issue. He demanded BJP leaders to sip cow urine before entering the garba pandal and post videos on social media.
