Flood relief: Centre to give Rs 145.60 crore immediate assistance to Kerala

NEW DELHI: The central government has sanctioned Rs 145.60 crore flood aid to Kerala. Rs 5858.60 crore as central allocation from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and advance amount from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) was allotted to 14 flood-affected states including Kerala.

Earlier today, Wayanad package found no mention in the press release. On August 27, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan submitted a petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi seeking special financial assistance of 2000 crores for the rehabilitation of Wayanad.

The Home Ministry said more than Rs 14,958 crore has already been disbursed to 21 states this year. This includes Rs 9044.80 crore from SDRF to 21 states, Rs 4528.66 crore from NDRF to 15 states and Rs 1385.45 crore from State Disaster Mitigation Fund to 11 states.
