AGRA: Scams over phone are increasing day by day. There has been many news of people suffering financial loss following cyber scam. However, one such fraud has claimed the life of a woman. A teacher died of a heart attack after hearing that her daughter has been involved in a sex racket. The incident happened in Agra. The fraudsters threatened the teacher on September 30.
Malti Verma (58), a teacher at a government school in Agra, received a WhatsApp call around noon on September 30. The caller’s display photo was that of a police inspector. The caller told the teacher that her college-going daughter has been caught in a sex racket. He also asked her to deposit Rs one lakh into his account to ensure that she came back home safe and no case was filed.
She immediately called her son Deepanshu Rajput and told him about it. When Deepanshu checked the phone number, he realized that it was a fraud call and he called his sister and made sure that she was safe. He later called his mother and consoled her saying that it was a fraud call. However, Deepanshu said that his mother was in a state of shock.
When Malti returned home from school, she suffered a chest pain. She then fell unconscious. She was taken to the hospital, but her life could not be saved. Doctors declared that she died due to cardiac arrest. The police said that her family has lodged a complaint. The police said that they are investigating the number from which the call came.
